My friend; If you have ever flown on an airplane, you might be probably familiar with the term “carry-on baggage.” Now, there are specific size and weight restrictions for those two burdens you’re allowed—and that is a good thing. You simply can’t go on with too much carry-on baggage! Yet I have watched as would-be passengers argue with ground personnel as the cargo bay closed and the plane prepared to leave the terminal. The same problem exists spiritually. People try to make it on this flight called Life with way too much baggage. On most airlines, one of the final instructions the captain announces just before landing ends with the phrase, “Prepare for arrival and cross-check, please.” The crew then proceeds to check that all is secure and in order, as the flight has almost reached its final destination.It won’t be long on this flight called Life before we hear the Holy Captain announce: “Ladies and Gentlemen: we are on our final approach to Glory land Intercontinental Airport. We will be landing from the east on Golden Runway #7. Please remain seated with your hands lifted in exuberant praise position as we make our final approach! Pastors, evangelists, Christian workers, prepare for arrival; cross-check, please!!”Have you checked your burdens at the Cross today, friend? Don’t be left standing at the gate.
